DISCLAIMER: this is not pickup soccer as you may know it, this is community soccer. Things we try not to do - individually dominate play, only pass to men or the best players, show off our amazing skills to fuel our egos, injure our friends. There are already plenty of highly competitive pick-up games on campus or in zilker park if that's your speed.
Where Do We Play in Austin, Who Can Play?
Games are open, all welcome, even those who don't want to play. Come out on any sunday and introduce yourself. These games have been going on since 2000, so we're well established.
We play from 1-4pm at Rosewood Park in east austin @ 12th and Chestnut.
There's not much parking, so biking is recommended - map
You'll see anywhere from 20 to 50 people out on sundays depending on how hot or cold it is. It's always a mis-mash of genders, colors, age and skill levels (there is a big disparity here, so anyone willing to offer free soccer clinics will be vastly rewarded). We play/hang out for at least 2 hours in summer, closer to 4 other times and there is a pool nearby to finish up in if it's full. No matter how beat we are, we try to follow sunday games with an evening potluck and/or social event.
